About my painting journey

The Self-Taught Painting Journey: From Watching to Creating

Painting has always existed in my life, even before I realized it. As a kid, I would watch in awe as my older brothers painted and drew, amazed by the transformation of a blank canvas into something beautiful with just a few strokes. Without my conscious knowledge, I had already started the journey of becoming an artist, through observation, curiosity, and immense love for creativity.

Learning by Observation:

I never had any formal training in painting, but I let nothing stop me from trying. I considered watching my brothers to be my first art lessons. I observed their brushwork, how they mixed colors, and how they expressed their ideas. Gradually, I began to experiment. My early works were not that brilliant, but from each attempt, I learned.

Gaining Insights

As I got older, the passion for painting only grew deeper. I turned to YouTube blogs and guides in books for information on certain techniques. I watched artists from around the world, learning various tricks and styles. Some days were spent sketching, some others painting in acrylics, watercolors, or oils. It was a lot of trial and error, but each mistake was a lesson.

Painting For Passion, Not Perfection

I may not be a professional artist, but painting is part of my identity. I don’t paint for perfection; I paint for love. Every brushstroke I make is an expression of my feelings, thoughts, and imagination. Art is a space for me to be free, with no rules and no barriers.

Helping Others Become
Self-Taught Artists Through my blog, Five Palettes, I want to teach people to recognize their artistic selves. If you ever wanted to paint but felt discouraged because you weren’t “trained,” let me tell you: you are not alone.

about my travel

A Traveler at Heart

Traveling has always been more than just a getaway; it is, in fact, a way of life. I have been to several countries as a female traveler, entertaining the delicate balance of work, passion, and a thirst for adventure. Each destination has been an entire book of its own, full of vibrant cultural experiences, picturesque landscapes, and lessons that have varied in impact and shape to me along the way.

To me, travel means not just ticking off places from a bucket list but immersing oneself in cultures, the journey of meeting wonderful people, and just going with the flow when things become unexpected. Through Five Palettes, I hope to share my journeys, inspire others to travel with confidence, and share other useful bits of information to ensure that every trip becomes a memorable one.

My Love for Cooking: From My Mom’s Kitchen to My Own Creations

Cooking has always had a special place in my heart. Ever since I was ten, I found myself drawn to the kitchen to watch my mom cook. Whenever she prepared Hilsa fish or chicken, I’d sit in front of her, mesmerized by the way she worked. The way she cut and prepared ingredients wasn’t just cooking—it was an art. Every move was precise, almost mathematical, and I had never seen anyone handle food with such grace and skill.

Maybe that’s why Hilsa fish became my favorite—it carries the warmth of my childhood, the essence of my mom’s touch, and the love she poured into every dish. She was my first inspiration, teaching me that cooking is more than just making food—it’s an expression of creativity and care.

Later, I discovered Siddika Kabir’s cookbook, which opened up a whole new world of flavors and techniques for me. To refine my skills further, I also studied culinary arts at ICI under the guidance of a renowned chef, which deepened my understanding of flavors, techniques, and the art of plating. That book, along with my mom’s influence and guidance from my Culinary Instructor shaped my approach to cooking—one that is free-flowing, experimental, and full of love.

Cooking, Creativity & A Life Full of Colors

As I grew older, my love for cooking only deepened. Unlike traditional cooks who follow recipes to the letter, I love to cook with intuition—adding a little twist here, a little surprise there. Cooking, much like art and design, gives me the freedom to create something new every time. It’s not just about making meals; it’s about creating experiences, sharing joy, and embracing creativity in everyday life.

Through Five Palettes, I share my love for cooking, my adventures in experimenting with flavors, and the joy of creating meals straight from the heart. Whether it’s a dish inspired by my childhood, a fun twist on a classic recipe, or a comforting meal that brings back sweet memories—I hope to inspire you to cook with creativity, confidence, and a whole lot of love! 💛
